Historical Note

The Canadian Wildlife Service was established in 1947 as a subsidiary of the Department of Environment and Climate Change Canada. The service counts migratory birds, endangered species, and habitat management as its core responsibilities. CWS works closely with other provincial, territorial, and Indigenous governments to ensure the safety and conservation of its natural wildlife and habitats.
