Biographical Note
Henry C. Stevens (1898-1979) was a native of Portland, Oregon. He was a partner in the insurance company Stevens & Brewster, which merged into Campbell, Galt & Newlands. He served as the president of the Oregon Association of Insurance Agents and was a member of many civic organizations.

Manuscript diary of Private H. C. C. Stevens, Battery E, 65th Coast Artillery Corps., 1 volume, February 22, 1918-January 30, 1919, regarding his experiences as an American soldier in France during World War I. Geographic place names are altered to conceal U. S. troop movements in the event of capture.
