Historical NoteReturn to Top
Gregory Hinton was an author, filmmaker, playwright, and curator. Hinton's work as a playwright included "Beyond Brokeback" and "Diversity Day", a staged reenactment of contentious Missoula City Council public testimony. Hinton was involved in three staged readings of the marriage equality play "8". Hinton's work in feature films included producing the AIDS drama, "It's My Party" (1996). He also wrote and produced the controversial film "Circuit" (2002). Hinton's published novels include: "Cathedral City" (2001), "Desperate Hearts" (2002), "The Way Things Ought to Be" (2003), and "Santa Monica Canyon" (2007). Hinton worked as an independent curator, partnering with museums, libraries, and universities in ten states to create and produce "Out West", a historical public program which included a series of plays, films, lectures, and exhibitions dedicated to the history and culture of diverse communities in the American West.
