Historical Note

The University of Wyoming, Department of Physics and Astronomy prepared students for careers in space sciences, nanotechnology, quantitative finance, engineering, environmental sciences, optics, computer technology, energy policy, science law, and many other fields. Their research efforts broadly focused on condensed matter physics, materials science, and astronomy through interdisciplinary, collaborative, and hands-on research in multiple cutting-edge laboratories and access to observing opportunities at Apache Point Observatory, the Wyoming Infrared Observatory, and Red Buttes Observatory.

Collection contains a CD titled The Wyoming CD-ROM: A Image Database, created as part of the NASA’s Wyoming Space Grant Consortium, the archived university department website, and photographs of former department heads. Also included are a pair of eclipse glasses from 2024.
