Thomas C. Kennedy (1932-1980) received his master’s and doctor’s degrees in History from Stanford University. His doctoral thesis (later published) was titled “Charles A Beard and American Foreign Policy” (1961). Kennedy spent a year teaching at Stanford (1961-1962) before becoming Professor of History and American Studies at the University of Wyoming. Kennedy focused on 20th century United States diplomatic history, although he also taught courses on Asian history and for the ROTC program. He received a Fulbright Fellowship which he spent in India (1965).

The collection contains material related to Thomas C. Kennedy’s research on Charles Beard, Admiral Husband E. Kimmel and the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Panton-Innerarity family and the Creek War in Florida, and other topics. Also included are teaching materials, including lecture notes, syllabi, course planning, and correspondence, as well as documents related to university governance. In addition there are family and personal documents. The journal that Kennedy kept during his Fulbright Fellowship in India is also included.
