Historical NoteReturn to Top
Charles James Quann (1933-2015) was born in Cle Elum, WA, to James and Grace Quann. He graduated from Washington State University with a bachelor's degree in General Agriculture (1954), and went on to graduate studies, earning a master's degree in Agricultural Economics (1959) and a Doctor of Education degree (1971). He was a veteran of the Korean War (34th Infantry Regiment, 24th Division). He was registrar of WSU from 1970 to 1990. Beginning in 1996, he initiated a series of oral interviews about Washington State University alumni, faculty, and staff who were military veterans. He was the author of WSU Military Veterans: Heroes and Legends (Spokane: Tornado Creek Publications, 2005), and founder of the WSU Veterans Memorial.
Quann received the Washington State University Distinguished Service Award, and the WSU Alumni Achievement Award.

This collection is arranged in two series:
Series 1: Washington State University Veterans Research Project, circa 1990s-2000s. Research files about students, faculty, and staff who served in the United States armed forces. Includes collected materials (reproductions) such as service records and newspaper clippings; also transcriptions and correspondence related to oral history interviews conducted by Quann.
Series 2: Professional Papers, 1959-2005. Papers and publications by Quann, as well as his master's thesis and doctoral dissertation.
