Historical Note
Boris Chaliapin (1904-1979) was a Russian born artist who specialized in portraits. He was best known for the over 400 covers he drew for "Time" magazine from the 1940s to 1960s.

Collection includes correspondence (1950-1970); catalog, in Russian, of 1975 one-man show in Moscow; 1972 biography, in Russian; 9 "Time" magazine cover sheets; and newspaper and magazine clippings related to Chaliapin's art.
