Lawyer, army officer, and state and federal official.
Ethan Allen Peyser was born in 1897. His business activities included securities, real estate, and a legal practice. He was a member of the Washington State Industrial Development Committee, 1950-1951, and president in 1954 of the Washington Natural Gas and Electric Co. concerned with bringing natural gas into Washington. Peyser's government service falls into two periods: 1941-1945 and 1948-1953. During the first he was a member of the Censors Operating Board, 1941-1942; the Board of Economic Warfare, 1942; and the War Production Board whose Foreign Division Peyser headed. During the second period Peyser served on the National Security Resources Board, the agency through which the industrial dispersion program was implemented. The Seattle Chamber of Commerce National Security Division, 1952-1955, was also part of this program. Peyser died in 1958.
