This collection consists of the rough draft and final copy of Mary White Gordon's handwritten recollection of some of her childhood spent in Wallace, Idaho. The memoir focuses on the time period before and until 1910. Born, in 1898, Mary would have been 12-years-old in 1910. The collection also includes a published copy of the memoir entitled A Child's-Eye View.

In the foreward to A Child's-Eye View, the book published from Mary's memoir, her grandson Kinyon Gordon writes that the memoir was written in 1977. In 2016, Wallace resident Ron Roizen, an area history enthusiast, contacted one of Mary's granddaughters and inquired about the possibility of publishing the personal history. The publishing of the papers occured as a joint effort between her family and Mr. Roizen.
