Historical Note

The First National Bank of Vancouver was organized in August 1883, as the 3031st bank under the National Bank Act. It opened its doors in September, 1883, and remained in operation until April 20, 1901 when it suspended operations and went into the hands of a receiver.

Content Description

The papers of the First National Bank of Vancouver in possession of Washington State University are of a fragmentary nature. Thus the major value of the papers is as a sample of late 19th century banking records. Because the papers contain no correspondence, official documents, or consolidated accounts, it is impossible to trace the history and development of the bank.
