Biographical Note
(1890-1968) Photographer, author, and mountain climber. Grace Christiansen was born in 1890 on a remote cattle ranch in Moses Coulee. Due to the ill health of her brother, the Christiansen family moved to Seattle when she was 18. She married J. Roy Gardner (1885-1955) and had 4 children. She later married Ted Wenzel. She spent part of her later years in Leavenworth, Washington.
Content Description
Scrapbooks, photograph albums, diaries, poetry and other writings, photographs, negatives, and lantern slides, and associated documents, letters, and related family papers. There are 2 volumes of scrapbooks titled, "Early Riders of the Gray Sage."

Scope and Content: Two scrapbooks, one of newspaper clippings from Washington newspapers and another of personal photos from a 1946 trip to 5 Canadian National Parks. The clippings pertain to Seattle and Washington's great outdoors and parks system. The scrapbook of clippings measures 11 x 16 x 1.5 inches, the photos of Canadian National Parks are in a scrapbook measuring 11 x 16 x 1 inches.
