Biographical Note

Trudy McMurrin (1945-2009) was born in Los Angeles, California. She earned a B.A. at the University of Utah, majoring in history and philosophy. Daughter of renowned philosopher Sterling McMurrin, Trudy got her start in publishing in 1965 as a proofreader for the University of Utah Printing Services. Over the course of her career, McMurrin worked in a number of distinguished positions including Editor-in-Chief of the University of Utah Press and Director of the Southern Methodist University Press. She edited the work of many writers in an array of disciplines and was an active participant in both regional and national publishing organizations. Trudy McMurrin died in March 2009.
