Historical NoteReturn to Top

Pauline Tuttle received her Ph.D. in ethnomusicology from the University of Washington in 2002 with the dissertation The Hoop of Many Hoops: The Integration of Lakota Ancestral Knowledge and Bah' Teachings in the Performative Practices of Kevin Locke. She taught field school in ethnology, ethnohistory, and ethnomusicology for the Anthropolgy Department and music of the Northwest Coast and of the Pacific Rim in the School of Music at the University of Victoria on Vancouver Island. Her publications include "Traditional Music of Vancouver Island: Calling on the Fiich'abak'takud (the Ancestors)" (2003) and "Beyond Feathers and Beads: Interlocking Narratives in the Music and Dance of Tokeya Inajin (Kevin Locke)" (2001).

Pauline Tuttle passed away January 17, 2007, after living with cancer for over a year. Despite her illness, she continued to work on her many research and documentation projects, including a video annotating project that was part of the EVIA Digital Archive project at Indiana University and the University of Michigan.
