Historical NoteReturn to Top
The Fine Arts Club was organized in September 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The clubs initial membership was six young women, which grew quickly to twenty members in 1925. The purpose of the club, as deemed by its constitution created in 1924, was the study of history and the appreciation of fine arts beginning with the first civilization. Club members were responsible for the preparation and presentation of lesson materials until 1935. From that time on, with the exception of several years, guest speakers became the principle means of the club's study and learning. The membership body was composed of both active and inactive members, with active members being limited to approximately thirty individuals. Club officers were annually voted and changed. In addition to the Fine Arts Club Records, Katherine Bennion, former member and president of the Fine Arts Club, also donated the Garden Arts Club Records. The Garden Arts club was established in 1961 for the purpose of promoting the interest and education of its members, in the field of gardening and associated subjects through social means.
