Historical Note

The Corvallis-Albany Farmers' Markets offer three weekly markets in Corvallis and Albany, Oregon during April-November selling farm-direct seasonal produce, nursery plants, cut flowers, and some prepared foods. Farmers' markets have been held in the Corvallis-Albany area since 1978. The most recent Corvallis Saturday market began in 1991 when Ron Spisso worked with local farmers and community volunteers to develop a proposal and launch the market in June 1991. In 1995, Rebecca Landis was hired as the first paid Market Director. A Wednesday market had been operating in Corvallis since 1981 and the Albany market on Saturdays had started several years before in 1978.

In 1998, the Albany and Corvallis markets joined together to form the Corvallis-Albany Farmers' Markets (CAFM), which operates as a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization. The CAFM is overseen by a 10-member board, seven of whom must be farmers.
