Historical NoteReturn to Top

Maynard Eyestone was a teacher of English as a second language. After receiving his M.A at the Teachers College Columbia University he went to Afghanistan in 1952 to teach English as part of the USAID (United States Agency for International Development) Columbia Team in Kabul, Afghanistan. From 1953-1959, Maynard taught English at Habibia High School, the technical preparatory school supported by the United States. While in Kabul, he became friends with many colleagues from the University of Wyoming team including Dale and Muriel Fritz. The Teacher’s College Columbia University (Columbia Team) worked in conjunction with the University of Wyoming team during these early years of the USAID program in Afghanistan.
