Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), a radical political association, was founded in 1959. The SDS was particularly active in the protest movement against the Vietnam War and in the civil rights movement during the 1960s.

Acquisition Information

Materials related to Students for a Democratic Society were gathered by Siegfried Vogt and Jerry Calvert from the 1960s through the 1990s. Dr. Vogt donated the collection to Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections in 1999.
