George Albert Rubedew (1888-1934) worked in both the hotel and timber industries in his time in Idaho. He and his wife operated the Moscow Hotel while Rubedew waited for land to be surveyed in the Clearwater district which he could then purchase. After surveying was complete, he filed a claim and became owner of the first homestead in that district. In 1917, Rubedew and his business associates formed Rupp-Holland Logging Company. In 1920, he purchased the Post Falls Lumber Company, renamed it the Rubedew Lumber Company, and worked there until 1929 when it was sold to the Western Pine Company and he retired.

This collection consists of three photograph albums with images from roughly 1903-1912. One album chronicles timber cruising and inspection trips along the Clearwater River and North Fork of the Clearwater River from 1905-1912. The second album includes photos documenting homesteading in Clearwater and Nez Perce Counties from 1903-1908 and pictures of a Franklin Model G light touring car owned by Mr. and Mrs. George A. Rubdedew taken near Moscow, Idaho in 1907. The third album contains photos of life and work in the Clearwater Country in 1905 as well as images taken around Moscow, Idaho from 1903-1906. Other items in the collections include newspaper clippings, correspondence and newsletters relating to George A. Rubedew's employment as a log scaler, photos of a logging camp, Rubedew family history, and postcards and photographs of logging related activities.
