WSU Physical Education Department Records, 1947-1983

The collection is loosely organized into two series, though there is some overlap between them. Series one is primarily administrative documents and reports originating within the two Departments of Physical Education (Men’s and Women’s); these are organized alphabetically by subject, and then chronologically within each subject.

Series two are documents collected by Women’s Physical Education Chair and Director of Athletics for Women Carol Gordon, dealing with Title IX from its introduction to enactment. Documents here are arranged alphabetically by their originating organization; notable here are two Washington State University folders pertaining to a campus Title IX Task Force and to a campus Title IX Review Committee looking at the legislation’s effects on WSU. An informal chronological subseries follows the organization folders, containing news clippings, articles, and other small documents.
