Historical Note

The Pullman Federated Women's Club is affiliated with the General Federation of Women's Clubs, a national federation which has existed since 1890. The Pullman Women's Club is in the North Eastern District of the Washington State Federation of Women's Clubs.

The Pullman Women's Club, which has an average of twenty members, was first organized in May of 1921. Previously, since 1914, the club was called Pullman Mother's Council, and Pullman Mother's Club. The club became part of the Federation in October, 1921, and since then the club has undertaken a large number of social and community activities.

The club includes several departments, such as Art and History, Better Homes, Child Study, Civics, Education, the Garden Club, Pre-School Mothers, and Epsilon Sigma Omicron. Each department has its own meetings and activities, aside from the general meetings and activities. Guest lecturers have often appeared at club meetings, and the general public has often been invited. As a whole club, community service projects were organized. Many projects of the Women's Club were social achievements, such as their City Beautification Plan in 1960 and 1961. The club raised money for the Youth Center Building, hospitals, and created the Pre-Natal Clinic. Their Gerontology Clinic, for the elderly in Pullman, was awarded by the Washington State Federation of Women's Club Community Service Contest in 1960.
