Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Lewis Jack Richardson was born on the Richardson Homestead near Monitor, Washington, in 1889. His father was one of the first in the area to use a waterwheel for irrigation purposes. During the 1940s, Richardson was a Chelan County Commissioner, and was also an official of the Chelan County Public Utility District. As such, he played an active role in developing hydroelectric power in the Wenatchee area. Richardson was also a career orchardist; he bought his orchard from his father, and developed the Richared apple.
