Historical Note

Jeanette Oppenheimer was born March 11, 1920 in Butte, Montana to Gabriel and Carrie Oppenheimer. Her younger brother, Dawson Oppenheimer, was born June 5, 1923 and died June 6, 2010. Jeanette attended the University of Montana-Missoula (then called Montana State University) and graduated in mathematics in 1941. She also received a certificate of qualification to teach. Jeanette moved to Jacksonville, Florida and married Martin Tabak on April 15, 1954. They ran a custom home building business and had three children, Sandy, Marcia and Gabriel. Martin Tabak passed away on December 28, 1998.
