Ethel was active in the Seattle chapter of Hadassah (president) and other communal endeavors. She married Benton M. Lippman, also a University of Washington graduate, in 1937 and raised 3 children: Lev, Susan, and Frank. Ethel was the Director of Public Relations for the King County Library System from 1957-1962. In July of 1962 she moved to Israel and established residency there, where she became involved in social welfare, educational and medical services through women's volunteer organizations until 1977.
