Evan I. Evans of Hartline, WA, graduated from the veterinary program at the State College of Washington in 1915; his nephew Daniel Chester Evans completed the same program in 1919.

The collection consists of 153 items (three documents and 150 images) primarily depicting student activities on the campus of the State College of Washington (later Washington State University) during the years of 1911-1915.
The majority of the images are commercially produced postcards, most from local photographers Robert Burns and Artopho Studios.

Restrictions on Use
The published postcards are in the public domain due to copyright expiration. The few unpublished items remain under copyright until 70 years after the death of the creator, or until 120 years after the date of creation if authorship cannot be determined.

Materials are organized alphabetically by subject.
Acquisition Information
Jim Walesby, a 1970 WSU graduate, donated these materials to Lynne Haley of WSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine on September 16th, 2020. The material had originally been collected by Walesby’s grandfather and uncle, Evan I. Evans and Chester Evans, who had both graduated from the WSC veterinary school, in 1915 and 1919 respectively. They had remained in the family since. On December 1, 2020 they were transferred to the WSU Libraries’ Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections (MASC) and retained as UPC 20-03.
