Biographical Note
The Warshal family left Warsaw, Poland for Boston in 1911. A year later they moved to Seattle where they began a dry goods store.
Content Description
Collection is comprised of account ledgers that were apparently found in the original Temple de Hirsch synagogue prior to the building being demolished. They may have some relation to the Warshal family; that name is written in front of one ledger. A series of 14 numbered ledgers appear to hold records of small cash loans for items such as shoes, overcoats, etc. Two unnumbered ledgers may be related to this series. Six ledgers have accounts which may relate to loans or business dealings with Seattle businesses or individuals.
