Historical Note
(from the guide to the Frank Fielding Nalder photograph collection, PC 12):
Frank Fielding Nalder was born on November 5, 1876 in Penhurst, Province of Victoria, Australia, and brought to the United States in 1884. He received his B.A. from the State College of Washington in 1901, his M.A. from Columbia in 1902, and his Ph.D. from the University of California in 1916. He was Registrar and instructor in history at the State College of Washington from 1903 to 1908, superintendent of schools in Tekoa, Washington from 1908 to 1909, with the Washington State Department of Public Instruction from 1909 to 1911, director of education for the Washington State Reformatory from 1912 to 1913, with the extension division of the University of California from 1914 to 1919, and professor of social science and director of General College Extension at the State College of Washington from 1919. He died on January 17, 1937.
