Historical Note

The Military Education Committee was established in January, 1969 as the Officer Education Committee. Its name was changed in the fall of 1969. The committee was concerned primarily with improving the quality of the University's military education programs (Army and Air Force ROTC). It also provided a formal channel of communication between the various Officer Education Programs, the administration and other departments on campus. The last meeting of the committee was in May 1972.

Content Description

The records of the Military Education Committee date from 1969 to 1972. They are arranged chronologically in a single series. The records include memoranda, minutes, correspondence and reports. The collection also contains a few reports and memoranda from the Educational Policies Committee's Project Committee which was examaning accreditation of the ROTC program. There is also some correspondence regarding the Committee on Military Recruiting.
