Content Description

Collection consists of 14 black and white photographs, circa 1914-1915, depicting actors and productions of Finnish theater groups in Astoria, Oregon, at least one affiliated with the Työmies Society. Most of the prints have the name of the author Walter Mattila written on the back, along with the names of people in the photographs and other information. Productions identified include: "Carmen" "Count Maritza" "Bajadeeri" "Samson and Delija" and "Bridge of the Gods." Identified people include: director Frank Niemi, Lyyli Johnson, Ida Pelto, Helmi Konttas, Laula Linturner, Lauri Lemberg, William Mattila, Abseli and Helmi Vuorsola, Paul Thompson, Anne Koski, M. Rinta, August Sala, Oscar Huttunen, Irene Huoppi, Helma Mikka, S. Koski, Helga Hekalainin, and Sanni Reivo.
