Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Richard C. Renstrom (b. 1935) is a resident of Caldwell, Idaho and a graduate of Boise Junior College. He married Betty Chambers of Ashton in 1956 and they had four children: Catherine, Patricia, Brian John, and Mary Frances.

Renstrom began part time writing in 1962 when he was employed by the Idaho Department of Employment in Caldwell. He served as Director of Tourism Development for the Idaho Department of Commerce from 1969-1971, and then as Director of the Youth Service Bureau of Boise, Inc. from 1971-1972. He became full time writer in 1972.

In 1967, Governor Robert E. Smylie appointed him to the first Idaho Arts Commission to represent creative writing. he served as President of the Idaho Writer's League in 1967, received the Idaho Writer's League "Writer of the Year" award in 1968 and 1977. In 1977 he founded the Idaho Vintage Motorcycle Club.
