Historical NoteReturn to Top

The Washington State Cemetery Association was established in 1997 with the mission to research, protect, restore, and preserve old and abandoned cemeteries in Washington state, to maintain their history, and to provide education and awareness of old and abandoned cemeteries and their care to the public.

Content DescriptionReturn to Top

Cemetery files contain burial listings, historical features, directories, indexes, lists of genealogical publications, correspondence, and photographs related to Washington State cemeteries. The majority of these files contain paper copies printed between 1999 and 2001, documenting information found on various genealogical and cemetery web-sites. There are also a number of cemeteries located in various states represented in one of the series.

Administrative files include correspondence, contact lists, minutes, bylaws, resolutions, annual reports, articles of incorporation, proposed legislation, clippings, brochures, survey forms, newsletters, publications, and related records documenting the creation of the organization.

Also included are several maps and surveys of Washington State cemetery properties.
