Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Frederick Roger Schauer was born on October 26, 1901 in Laurel, Montana. He studied chemistry at the University of Montana in Missoula (then called the State University of Montana), graduating in 1924. During his time at the university, Schauer was a member of the Alchemists club. After graduation, Schauer taught in the Billings school system. He died in January 1960.

Custodial History

Charles and Jean Waddell of Billings, Montana, sent the collection to Mike and Maureen Mansfield. The date of the original donation is unknown, but the University of Montana archives accessioned the photos in March of 1984.

Acquisition Information

Mike and Maureen Mansfield donated the collection to the University of Montana Foundation, and the foundation transferred them to the archives on March 9, 1984.

Processing Note

The University of Montana archives processed the album in 2007 and maintained its original order and captions. In 2021, the loose sheets were arranged thematically based on an estimate of their original order and a detailed container list was provided.
