Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Anton C. Van Soelen was born in New York in 1891 and came to Seattle in 1903, where he attended law school at the University of Washington, graduating in 1915. He was admitted to the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States in 1928. Van Soelen worked as law clerk for the Seattle Law Department and later as corporation counsel for the City of Seattle. Van Soelen was president of the National Institute of Municipal Law Officers in 1954 and received that organization's annual award for distinguished public service in 1957. Anton Van Soelen retired in 1964 and died in Seattle in 1968.
