Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Harlan Holmes was born in 1898. He was the fisheries biologist in charge of the design for fish protection at Bonneville Dam. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Stanford University. He worked in Seattle at the National Marine Fisheries Montlake Laboratory from 1932-1935 and from 1947-1953. While with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service he worked on every major dam on the Columbia River until his retirement in 1958. Holmes died in 1975.
