Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Charles Patrick Moriarty was born in 1895. He was a Seattle attorney and civic leader. From 1925 - 1929 he served as Judge in the King County Superior Court. He was a member of the law firm Padden and Moriarty, 1929-1950. From 1934-1936 he was treasurer of the State Central Committee of the Republican Party, and during the years 1953-1961 he was U.S. Attorney for Western Washington. He represented the defendants in the prohibition case of the U.S. vs. Whitney, et al. Moriarty was prominent as a speaker in Seattle. He died in 1966.
U.S. vs. Whitney, et. al. is an important prohibition trial in which government agents were accused of accepting bribes from organized crime. Moriarty acted as attorney for the defense.
