The College of Hass during this time period was the largest of USU's eight colleges encompassing the departments of Aeropace Studies; Art; Communications; English; HIstory and Geography; Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning; Languages and Philosophy; Military Science; Music; Political Science; Sociology, Social Work and Anthropology; and Theatre Arts. The College also coordinated the Liberal Arts Program, Liberal Studies, and Women's Studies.

Although the files were incomplete upon transfer to Archives, they represent much of the work of the affiliated College of HASS departments. The files were kept in their original order according to the arrangement created by College of HASS staff and secretaries. The original filing guide often designated files for which no file existed. During the reprocessing of the collection, the University Archivist imposed a more common box and folder regimen. However, empty folders were included as place holders to mark where missing files were located. This is reflected in the collection register. Some files are designated confidential and private according to state and federal records laws and require the Archivist’s permission for access. These generally involve files related to personnel and student records.

These administrative files were transferred to University Archives at the conclusion of Robert Hoover's administration during 1992-1993.
Related Materials
Each department affiliated with the College of HASS has its own distinct record series. These record series begin alphabetically with the Art Department, 14.6/2; and conclude with the Theatre Arts Department, 14.6/11. During the university’s historical development, the disciplines of humanities, arts and social sciences have been reorganized periodically under different schools and colleges. Aerospace Studies and Military Science were at one time part of the former College of Business and Social Science. Record groups for these two departments are still maintained as part of the present Huntsman School of Business, 14.2/3 and 14.2/7, respectively.
