Historical NoteReturn to Top

William Holden Willson was born in New Hampshire April 14, 1805 and died in April of 1856. In 1837, he traveled west as a missionary. During this time, Willson acquired an informal medical education from Dr. Elijah White, and began a long career as an unlicensed doctor and pharmacist. Dr. Willson was also a licensed preacher who traveled widely in the Oregon Territory. He took part in many civic activities such as serving as the first treasurer of Oregon and serving on the board of the Oregon Institute.
