Historical NoteReturn to Top
Interest in the Green and Grand Rivers for navigation and transportation was high during the decades from 1890 to 1920. Steam and other powered boats were built and used on the rivers for transporting passengers, freight, ore, produce, and other goods by B. S. Ross, Tom Wimmer, Cap Yokey, and others. Many attempts were made to establish a regular, scheduled freight and passenger line between the towns of Moab and Green River, Utah, but due to shallow channels and shifting sandbars, this was never done successfully.
