The collection consists of documents and newspaper clippings regarding the Spencer family land allotments. Land deed transfers document the ownership of the property and the establishment of Otter Rock. Newspaper clippings and a geological survey reveal the commercial interest in the black sands found on the southern Oregon Coast, which contained gold, platinum, and chrome ore.
