Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Mercedes M. DuJunco received her Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from the University of Washington. She has considerable training and research experience in Chinese folk instrumental music. She did two years of postgraduate studies in Chinese Music Theory and zheng zither performance at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music from 1983-85. From 1989-91, she carried out dissertation research on the Chaozhou xian shi yue music tradition in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Chaozhou in the Mainland. She is the author of the entry on Chaozhou xian shi yue in the forthcoming Garland Encyclopedia of World Music.
