Historical NoteReturn to Top
The Seattle Group Theatre was a multi-cultural theatre company in Seattle from 1978 to 1998. The company was founded by a group led by Ruben Sierra, an assistant professor of drama at the University of Washington. The company was housed at the University’s Ethnic Cultural Theatre from 1978 to 1992 and at the Center House Theatre in its later years, from 1993 to 1998. In addition to individual productions performed on its own stage, Group Theatre hosted touring shows and produced workshops and the annual Multicultural Playwright’s Festival. The Seattle Group Theatre was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 1981.
