Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Nevzad Atlığ (1925) is a conductor, violinist, and medical professional from Denizli, Saraykoy. He learned to play the violin as a child from his father. He went on to play violin in his university choir while he studied X-ray diagnosis at the Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine. From 1955-1958 served as conductor of the university choir as well as the director of Istanbul Radio. In 1976, he was appointed conductor of the State Classical Turkish Music choir. Throughout his career, he has earned a variety of awards, including the Presidential Grand Prize in Arts and Culture, the Turkish Cultural Service Award, and the Grand Prize of Culture and Arts.
