Biographical Note

Jack Trueblood, son of Ted and Ellen Trueblood, is an author and journalist, and worked for the Idaho Department of Fish and Game. Trueblood has written about hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation as well as conservation, land issues, wilderness, and hydroelectric power. His first essay was published in Idaho's Department of Fish and Game magazine, Idaho Wildlife, in 1966. His writings are found in Idaho Fish and Game's "Fish and Game News" tabloid, Idaho Wildlife magazine and other agency publications. They are also in Field and Stream, The Idaho Outdoor Digest, True's Hunting and Fishing Yearbooks, and other publications. He also worked with and wrote for organizations such as the Committee for Idaho's High Desert, the Idaho Sportsmen's Coalition, and the Idaho Wildlife Federation. In addition to his writing Trueblood formed and became treasurer for the Sportsmen's Political Action Committee in 1984 in an effort to give sportsmen and women such as hunters, anglers, and general recreationists a voice in Idaho legislation. He was a member of the Idaho Centennial Commission, appointed by Governor John Evans in 1986. He was reappointed to the Centennial Commission from 1989-1991 by Governor Cecil Andrus. He established the Ted Trueblood Scholarship at Boise State University in 1982. He graduated from Boise State in 1983, and was a Contributing Editor at Field and Stream magazine from the late 1970s to 1984.
