- Hazel Mills worked at the library of the University of Washington, the Oregon State Library and the Washington State Library. She authored and co-authored several books on Pacific Northwest history and was working on a biography of Frances Fuller Victor when she became incapacitated by illness. A nearly complete draft of her book on Victor makes up a significant portion of the collection. Other materials include diaries and appointment books; personal correspondence and greeting cards; certificates; and professional materials, primarily papers related to her involvement in library- and history-related organizations.

Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Hazel Mills and her husband, Randall, came west in 1938, to the University of Oregon, where he taught a course on literature of the West, with a focus on Frances Fuller Victor. Upon his death in 1952, Hazel Mills took a job at the library of the University of Washington, and later at the Oregon State Library and the Washington State Library. She authored and co-authored several books on Pacific Northwest history and was working on a biography of Frances Fuller Victor when she became incapacitated by illness.
