The collection consists of the account book of Griffin and Stouffer, blacksmiths of Lafayette, Oregon Territory. The volume begins with a recipe for Sarsaparilla.

Two undated newspaper clippings and a photograph are included in the last pages of the volume. One concerns the golden anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. James Elliot, the other the will of one Dan P. Stouffer. The photograph is of a child identified as Dan O. Quick.
