Accession No. 5664-002, Freedom Day Committee Pride posters, 1979 -2007
1 oversize folder, (27 posters)Scope and Content: Materials include Seattle Pride posters some from the Freedom Day Committee, from 1979 to 2007.
Historical Note: This collection documents the history of Seattle's Pride movement through posters spanning from 1979 to 2007. It includes materials produced by the Freedom Day Committee (FDC), a grassroots coalition that organized Seattle's Pride marches and rallies for nearly two decades. Formed in the wake of the national pride liberation movement, the FDC played a central role in shaping the city's Pride celebrations from the late 1970s into the 1990s.
A milestone reflected in the collection is the 1992 Pride event, the first year that "bisexual" and "transgender" were included in the event's official title and messaging.
