Historical BackgroundReturn to Top
Over 10 million visitors attended the Seattle World’s Fair (Century 21 Exposition) from April 21 to October 21, 1962. Media broadcasts and promotional materials were distributed across the country to advertise the fair, and thousands of individuals and families planned a “trip of a lifetime” to visit the Northwest for the first time and attend the Seattle World’s Fair. Approximately 66% of the World’s Fair visitors were from Washington, Oregon and California, with the rest traveling from other regions and countries.
