This collection contains the papers of Dr. Arthur R. Hard, a Professor in the Department of Engineering at Washington State University from 1945 to 1981. The collection primarily consists of research notes, graphs, charts, collected data, lab notebooks and field reports pertaining to Bonneville Power Administration. The collection also contains "Olin Fatigue" notebooks, "Alcoa and Local decays" notebooks, "trailer log" reports, "Coulee City Test" notebooks, "Quarterly Project Summaries" for the Division of Industrial Research, "Round Top" reports, "Covington-Coulee Data" reports, "Washington Water Power Co." notebook, "Christmas Valley, Lower Monumental, Little Goose Vibration Data" reports, "Christmas Valley Decay" notebook, and "Force-Velocity Records: Dunlop Spacers," and several others. Additionally, this collection includes brochures on the Engineering Department at Washington State University, bound copies of the "Official Proceedings of the International Acetylene Association" from 1958-1962, a report for "A Ten Year Plan: College of Engineering Washington State University" in 1967, copies of Ontario Hydro's "Research Quarterly," journals and magazines, and papers pertaining to research contracts, grant proposals, client background information, and papers concerning the International Conference on High Tension Systems, held in Poland in 1963. The collection also includes photographs, transparencies, program cards, and negatives.

Dr. Arthur R. Hard (1917-2011) was a Professor of Mechanical Engineering in Department of Engineering at Washington State University from 1945 to 1981. During his career at WSU, Dr. Hard served as the head of the Vibration and Fabrication Section in the College of Engineering's Industrial Research Division and worked on several projects for the Bonneville Power Administration.
