Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Lester V. Hodgson was born March 15, 1904, on a farm near Helix, Oregon to Joseph and Amanda Olive Kirk Hodgson. In 1930, Hodgson moved to Walla Walla, Washington. Hodgson married his second wife, Mary Elizabeth Campbell, in 1936. Over the next 25 years, Hodgson worked as a truck driver for Walla Walla Steam Laundry, Star Laundry, Perfection Cleaners, Bay Cleaners and Schmidt's Cleaners. Mary Hodgson also worked for Walla Walla Steam Laundry, accepting a job at McCaw Hospital during World War Two. Mary Hodgson died on December 29, 1986. Lester Hodgson died on December 9, 1991.

The Lester and Mary Hodgson Photograph and Scrapbook Collection spans from 1917 through 1981. It consists of negatives and prints mainly documenting the flood on Mill Creek in Walla Walla, Washington that occurred between March 31 to April 1, 1931. Also included are photographs of agricultural scenes, a military parade and buildings and street scenes in Walla Walla, Washington. The collection includes a scrapbook containing photographs and postcards, Hodgson's autobiography, and three postcard albums from Walla Walla and Washington State. This collection gives an insight into the life of Lester Hodgson.
