John W. Thompson was a Seattle botanist and teacher, who in his retirement created a second career as a photographer of Pacific Northwest topics, which photographs he marketed to schools and libraries. He died in 1978.

John W. Thompson photographic slide sets. Slides depicting Washington State topics which Thompson sold to schools for teaching. Also includes six filmstrips. Topics include, oyster farming, cranberry growing, cheesemaking, wheat growing, farming east and west of the Cascades, logging, the Pendleton Roundup, the Olympic Penninsula and other regions of Washington State, and the Columbia River Basin.
