Garth Nelson Jones (b. 1925) is Professor Emeritus of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Alaska at Anchorage. He received the B.S. from Utah State University in 1947, then the M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Utah in 1948 and 1954, all in Political Science. During his career he has written about a dozen monographs on public policy, and numerous articles on Mormon history and culture.

The Garth N. Jones papers (1986-2006) contain articles, papers, and related correspondence. These writings include a review of a paper on Thomas Stuart Ferguson, a biography of Jones's ancestor James T. Lisonbee, an article entitled: "'Acres of Diamonds': Studies of Development Administration and the Mormon Experience," and "In Search of Zarahemla, 1900-1902," which narrates an expedition aimed at proving the Book of Mormon's historicity. Other articles include "Indonesia Raya: Istana and Umat in an Obscuring Imperial Order," and "The Ahmadis of Islam: A Mormon Encounter and Perspective."
